Penguins place goalie Thibault on IR
Pittsburgh Penguins: The Penguins on Sunday placed goaltender Jocelyn Thibault on injured reserve with a severely bruised knee.
Pittsburgh, which finished with the NHL's worst record (23-47-8-4) in 2003-04, bolstered its lineup during the offseason with, among other moves, the acquisition of Thibault in a trade with Chicago.
Thibault was limited to 14 games in 2003-04 due to a hip injury. He went 5-7-2 with one shutout and a 2.85 goals-against average after making his first All-Star Game appearance the previous season.
In 536 career games, Thibault is 227-218-68 with 36 shutouts and a 2.70 GAA.
