Predators acquire Berry from Coyotes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Predators added
some defensive insurance Monday, acquiring journeyman Rick Berry
from the Phoenix Coyotes for future considerations.

A third-round pick of Colorado in 1997, Berry played 76 games
with the Avalanche over parts of two seasons before being traded
to Pittsburgh in March 2002 in a deal involving Darius
Kasparaitis. After completing the campaign with the Penguins,
the 26-year-old was claimed off waivers by Washington, where he
spent parts of two seasons.

Berry signed with Phoenix as a free agent in September 2004 and
played 45 games with Utah of the American Hockey League last
season. The Manitoba native appeared in five contests with San
Antonio of the AHL this season.

In 197 NHL games, Berry has two goals, 13 assists and 314
penalty minutes.

The Predators assigned Berry to Milwaukee of the AHL.
