The Detroit Red Wings received some good news Wednesday: Manny Legace will be out, but likely not for long.

The team said the star goaltender will miss Thursday's game against Edmonton, but Legace is listed as day-to-day with a sprained knee. Chris Osgood will start in his place.

Legace skated with the team on Wednesday, but did not go down on the knee at all.

Legace left Tuesday's game agianst the Blackhawks with 3:23 remaining in the first period after Chicago's Matthew Barnaby fell on him. Legace, who made eight saves, had an MRI after he left the game.

Legace was named the NHL Defensive Player of the Month for October. He set an all-time record for most wins in October (10-1), had a 1.81 goals-against average, .925 save-percentage and two shutouts.
