Thrashers place goalie Dunham on IR
ATLANTA -- Mike Dunham was placed on injured reserve Tuesday after hurting his groin in yet another injury to an Atlanta Thrashers goaltender.
The injury happened Saturday at Carolina, although it is not related to an earlier groin injury that sidelined him. Dunham has gone 4-3-1 with one shutout and a 2.10 goal-against average in eight games.
The team recalled goaltender Michael Garnett from Chicago of the AHL.
The Thrashers' starting goaltender is Adam Berkhoel. Goalie Steve Shields is on the active roster but is recovering from a knee injury. Projected starter Kari Lehtonen has been out since injuring his groin in the opener and is not expected back this month.
Atlanta plays host to the New York Islanders on Wednesday night.
