Fernandez went 3-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage for the Wild in victories over Edmonton (twice) and Vancouver. For the season, Fernandez is 14-5-3 with a 2.05 GAA -- good for second in the NHL -- and a league-best .930 save percentage. He has appeared in 23 of Minnesota's 39 games, moving ahead of Dwayne Roloson in the rotation.

Also, the Wild announced that defenseman Willie Mitchell would keep the captain's title for January. He's the fourth player in team history to get the honor for consecutive months. Centers Brian Rolston and Wes Walz are the alternate captains this season for Minnesota, which has rotated the captaincy since the franchise began in 2000.
