Blues' Brewer could miss season following surgery
St. Louis Blues
Brewer, the key player acquired in a trade for Chris Pronger in the offseason, opted for the surgery two days after receiving a second opinion from Dr. Anthony Miniaci of Cleveland that reaffirmed the diagnosis of team doctors. No date has been set for the operation, the team said Sunday.
The Blues also placed goaltender Jason Bacashihua on injured reserve with a left shoulder injury and recalled goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu from the Alaska Aces of the ECHL.
Brewer hurt his left shoulder in a collision with Atlanta's Karl Stewart in the second period on Jan. 13. In 32 games he has six goals and three assists.
Bacashihua, 23, was injured in the third period of Friday night's game at Columbus. Beckford-Tseu, 21, is 13-1-2 with a 1.97 goals-against average at Alaska and was recalled by the Blues for one game earlier in the season.
