Blackhawks deal Simpson to Canadiens

CHICAGO -- Defenseman Todd Simpson was traded from the
Blackhawks to the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday and will be
joining his seventh NHL team.

Chicago acquired a sixth-round draft pick from Montreal in a
deal that came within hours of the NHL's trading deadline.

Simpson appeared in 45 games for the Blackhawks this season
after being signed as a free agent last August. The 32-year-old
defenseman had three assists and 116 penalty minutes.

He also has played with Ottawa, Anaheim, Phoenix, Florida and
Calgary. Simpson, whose salary is $600,000, becomes an unrestricted
free agent July 1.
