MCL sprain ends season for Blues' Sanford

ST. LOUIS -- Already well out of the playoff race, the St. Louis Blues will have to go the rest of the season without their starting goaltender.

Curtis Sanford will miss the remainder of the campaign with a left MCL sprain, the Blues announced Wednesday.

As a result, the Blues recalled netminder Reinhard Divis from the American Hockey League's Peoria Rivermen. Divis, 30, is 16-10-2 with a 2.77 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage in 31 games with the Rivermen and has seen time in seven contests with St. Louis this season.

Sanford, 26, suffered the injury on in 3-2 overtime win over Columbus on Monday. He is 13-13 with a 2.66 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 34 games for the Blues, who have just 51 points in 63 games and are 25 points out of the playoff chase. The last time the Blues did not make the postseason was 1979.
