Devils to buy AHL team, relocate minor-league affiliate
LOWELL, Mass. -- The New Jersey Devils have agreed to purchase a controlling interest in the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters and make Lowell the home of the Devils' top minor-league affiliate.
New Jersey will move its minor-league operations from Albany, N.Y., to Lowell at the start of the 2006-07 season. New Jersey has been affiliated with the AHL's Albany River Rats for the past 13 years but did not own the team.
Lowell is currently affiliated with the NHL's Carolina and Colorado organizations.
