TORONTO -- After his performance in the postseason, the Edmonton Oilers simply could not let Fernando Pisani leave his hometown.

Citing undisclosed sources, TSN of Canada reported on its Web site late Friday night that Pisani signed a four-year, $8 million contract with the Oilers.

Pisani was slated to become an unrestricted free agent at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.

A native of Edmonton, Pisani recorded career highs of 18 goals and 37 points last season -- his third in the NHL. But the 29-year-old blossomed in the playoffs, netting a league-leading 14 tallies -- including an NHL-best five game-winners -- and finishing sixth with 18 points as the Oilers came within one win of their sixth Stanley Cup championship.

An eighth-round pick in 1996, Pisani has registered 42 goals and 38 assists in 191 career regular-season games.
