Selected in the fifth round of the 1998 draft, Raycroft had a
stellar rookie season in 2003-04, going 29-18-9 with three
shutouts, a 2.05 goals-against average and a .926 save
But the 26-year-old Ontario native struggled mightily in his
sophomore campaign, posting a record of 8-19-2 with a 3.71 GAA
and .879 save percentage while battling injuries.
The development of Hannu Toivonen and the solid play of Tim
Thomas allowed Boston to part with Raycroft.
The 19-year-old Rask was drafted 21st overall by Toronto in
2005. Last season in his native Finland, he went 12-8-7 with a
2.09 GAA for Ilves Tampere.
