ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Minnesota Wild re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Brent Burns to a two-year, $1.65 million contract on Monday.
Burns, 21, skated in a career-high 72 games for Minnesota last season, averaging 14-plus minutes of ice time, scoring four goals and tallying 12 assists. He will make $775,000 in 2006-07 and $875,000 in 2007-08.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound native of Ontario, who was the Wild's first-round draft pick in 2003, has bounced back and forth between right wing and defense in his two NHL seasons.
After a flurry of free-agent signings last week, Minnesota's roster is nearly filled. The Wild have two unrestricted free agents who aren't yet signed, forwards Pascal Dupuis and Mikko Koivu.
