ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Anaheim Ducks on Sunday signed center Samuel Pahlsson to a two-year contract extension through the 2008-09 season.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
Pahlsson, 28, is widely considered one of the top defensive forwards in the NHL. The Swede played in all 82 games with the Ducks last season, registering a career-high 11 goals and 10 assists. He has not recorded a point in Anaheim's first two games this season.
"Samuel Pahlsson has established himself as one of the best two-way centers in the league," Ducks general manager Brian Burke said. "We rely on him to kill penalties, win faceoffs and shut down opposing teams' top lines. And he does all those things well."
Pahlsson has 33 goals and 54 assists in 356 career games over five-plus seasons with Anaheim and Boston. He has played in 195 consecutive games, the longest active streak in Ducks club history.
