Blackhawks 3-0 since Savard replaced Yawney

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks extended coach Denis Savard's contract through the 2007-08 season Tuesday.

Savard, a Hall of Fame player who had been an assistant for Chicago, took over as head coach Nov. 27 when Trent Yawney was fired. The Blackhawks are 3-0 since the change.

Sid Abel was the only other Blackhawks head coach to win his first three games, back in the 1952-53 season. No coach in the 80-year club history has won his first four games, and the Blackhawks were attempting to do that Tuesday night at Minnesota.
