DALLAS -- The Dallas Stars recalled goaltender Mike Smith from the AHL Iowa Stars on Friday and assigned center Joel Lundqvist and goaltender Dan Ellis to the development team.

Earlier Friday, the Stars assigned Smith to the Iowa team in exchange for Ellis, but Ellis' flight to Los Angeles for the Stars' Saturday game was canceled, said team spokesman Mark Janko. Smith will fill the backup goalie slot Saturday, he said.

Smith has a 5-3-0 record with Dallas this season, along with a 2.27 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.

Ellis has a 7-7-0 record for Iowa this season, with a 3.85 goals-against average and a .871 save average. He played his only NHL game with Dallas in a 4-3 win against Los Angeles in February 2004.

Lundqvist, who appeared in his fifth NHL game Thursday night against the New York Rangers, has scored eight goals in 25 games for Iowa this season.
