"Tyler had a good season for us last year and we look forward to him building upon that success,'' Avalanche General Manager Francois Giguere said Friday.
Arnason, 28, had 16 goals and 33 assists last year, ranking sixth on the team with 49 points. He was third on the team in shots with 211, fifth in assists and sixth in goals.
Arnason was one of only five Avalanche players who appeared in
every game last season and has now played all 82 games in three of the past four seasons.
He skated for the U.S. National Team at the 2007 IIHF World
Championship in Moscow. He had a goal and three assists in seven games.
Chicago drafted Arnason in the seventh round, 183rd overall, in 1998. He signed a free-agent contract with the Avalanche in July 2006.
He has 192 career points (73 goals and 119 assists) in 346 games.
