Ricci announces retirement at charity golf tournament
PETERBOROUGH, Ontario -- Veteran NHL forward Mike Ricci is retiring.
Ricci announced his retirement during the Peterborough Professional Hockey Alumni charity golf tournament at the Kawartha Golf and Country Club.
A veteran of 16 NHL seasons, Ricci said he hadn't come around like he had hoped from neck surgery he underwent last year about this time. He had hurt his neck training.
He returned to his last team, the Phoenix Coyotes, at the start of last season, but lasted only seven games. He didn't re-sign, becoming a free agent.
