DETROIT -- An 18-year-old man has been found guilty of murdering a manager and a cook at a bar owned by Detroit Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios last January.

Justin Blackshear was found guilty of stabbing Megan Soroka and Mark Barnard to death on Jan. 2 at Cheli's Chili Bar in downtown Detroit. He will be sentenced on Sept. 7 and will receive a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

"I ask you to continue to keep Megan and Mark and their families in your thoughts and prayers," Chelios said in a statement that praised the Detroit police and Wayne County prosecutors office, along with the Red Wings.

Blackshear's attorney, Earl Washington, told the Detroit News he wasn't surprised by the verdict.
