Avs move up game time to accommodate NL playoffs
DENVER -- The Colorado Avalanche and the NHL moved the start of its game Sunday to 5 p.m. to accommodate the National League playoffs.
The game against the San Jose Sharks at the Pepsi Center was moved up an hour, the Avs said, to allow sports fans to watch the Denver Broncos' kickoff against the San Diego Chargers at 2:15 p.m., the Avs-Sharks game at 5 p.m. and Game 3 of the Colorado Rockies' divisional series against the Philadelphia Phillies at 8 p.m.
"This coming Sunday will be a very special day in Colorado major league sports history and we wanted everyone to be able to attend these three events if they wished to do so," Avs general manger Francois Giguere said.
The Avs open the season Wednesday night against Dallas.
