DALLAS -- Winger Todd Fedoruk has cleared waivers and been assigned to minor league Iowa, leaving the Dallas Stars on the hook for his $875,000 salary this season.

In July, the Stars signed Fedoruk, a free agent, to the one-year deal.

On Sunday, the 28-year-old was placed on waivers after appearing in 11 games this season, posting two assists and 33 penalty minutes. On Tuesday, the Stars said Fedoruk cleared waivers and was sent to the Iowa Stars, Dallas' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League.

Even if Fedoruk spends the rest of the year with Iowa, Dallas must pay his $875,000 salary.

Fedoruk, an enforcer, started last season with Stanley Cup champion Anaheim before getting traded to Philadelphia. He finished with 120 penalty minutes and 14 points in 58 games.

The 6-foot-2, 241-pound Fedoruk was a second-round pick in 1997 by the Flyers, who traded him to the Ducks in 2005 before getting him back a little more than a year later. He's scoreless with 38 penalty minutes in 19 career playoff games.
