DENVER -- Center T.J. Hensick is expected to make his NHL debut at San Jose on Friday night after being recalled by the Colorado Avalanche from the team's AHL affiliate on Thursday.

Hensick, 21, leads the Lake Erie Monsters in scoring with 13 points in 18 games.

A third-round draft pick in 2005, Hensick scored 69 points in 41 games as a senior at Michigan last season, winning the Central Collegiate Hockey Association scoring title. He was a Hobey Baker Award finalist and led the country in assists, assists per game (1.12) and points per game (1.68).

To make room, the Avalanche reassigned forward Brad Richardson to Lake Erie.
