TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Lightning starting goalie Mike Smith was scratched from Tuesday night's game against Florida due to a left knee sprain.

Smith was hurt in practice Monday, and is listed as day to day. An MRI was negative.

"Nothing major, that's the good news," Smith said after the Lightning beat Florida 3-1. "Definitely relieved."

Smith rode a stationary bike during the game.

Karri Ramo made 34 saves in place of Smith, picking up his sixth win in 19 games.

The Lightning recalled Jonathan Boutin from Norfolk of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis.

Tampa Bay also put goalie Marc Denis on recall waivers. If he clears waivers, Denis will replace Boutin on the roster until Smith returns.

Lightning defenseman Paul Ranger missed his third straight game with a left shoulder injury. He will undergo additional tests this week after an MRI exam Monday was inconclusive.

"It feels like it's getting better everyday," Ranger said.
