Panthers' McCabe injures back, likely out two weeks
Florida Panthers general manager Jacques Martin said defenseman Bryan McCabe likely will be out two weeks with a back injury suffered in the Panthers' opening game Friday night, according to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Martin said Saturday afternoon's MRI exam showed McCabe did not have any vertebrae fractures. The team is calling the injury a "contusion and low back strain."
McCabe, 33, was hurt midway through the second period of the game against the Carolina Hurricane when he fell awkwardly after colliding with Hurricanes defenseman Dennis Seidenberg against the boards. He left the game and did not return.
McCabe was acquired in a trade last month from the Toronto Maple Leafs, with whom he had a difficult 2007-08 season, with five goals and 18 assists for 23 points in 54 games.
