Jackets sign Dorsett to 2-year extension

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Right wing Derek Dorsett has signed a two-year contract extension with the Columbus Blue Jackets that runs through the 2011-12 season.

General Manager Scott Howson announced the deal Saturday. Terms were not disclosed.

The 22-year-old Dorsett had four goals and one assist with 150 penalty minutes in 52 games as a rookie with the Blue Jackets last season. He ranked second on the club and led all NHL rookies in penalty minutes and added 116 hits.

A native of Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Dorsett was Columbus' ninth pick in the 2006 entry draft.
