Souray clears waivers

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Sheldon Souray cleared waivers Saturday, and will remaining with the club for now.

Souray, 33, has asked for a trade but the Oilers have not been able to move him.

He has two years left on his five-year contract, which pays him $4.5 million per season, but his cap hit is $5.4 million.

Souray missed 16 games last season because of a concussion, and 29 games because of a broken hand.
