Demitra signs with KHL team
Pavol Demitra signed a one-year contract with Yaroslavl of the KHL in Russia on Thursday.
Demitra's agent, Matt Keator, confirmed the signing when contacted by ESPN.com.
The 35-year-old native of Slovakia was named to the Olympic All-Star team last February in Vancouver. He struggled, however, in the NHL with only 16 points (3-13) in 28 games with the Vancouver Canucks this past season. He posted 53 points (20-33) in 69 games with the Canucks in 2008-09.
