Jonathan Toews focused on the future
He called it an "absolutely amazing" summer, but Jonathan Toews has turned his focus to the challenge of helping the Blackhawks repeat as Stanley Cup champions.
"Guys know how to win [now] and we want to win," Toews said to the "Afternoon Saloon" on ESPN 1000. "We're looking forward to this challenge."
Toews was in New York to promote EA Sports' "NHL '11," which he is the cover boy for, one year after Patrick Kane had that honor.
Though the finals ended just three months ago, Toews said "it feels like ages since we won." He knows the upcoming challenge will relate to the roster turnover the Hawks just experienced.
"It's going to be a test for our team," Toews said. "We have a lot of young players without much NHL experience but we're looking forward to it."
Training camp for the 2010-2011 season opens on Sept. 18.
