Matt Hendricks signs with Capitals
ARLINGTON, Va. -- Forward Matt Hendricks has signed a one-year contract with the Washington Capitals after going to training camp on a tryout basis.

Hendricks, whose deal was announced Monday by the team, scored three goals in Washington's 6-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets in the Capitals' exhibition opener last week. Hendricks played for Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau with the AHL Hershey Bears in 2006-07.
He had nine goals, seven assists and 74 penalty minutes with the Colorado Avalanche last season.
Hendricks made his NHL debut in 2008 and has appeared in 60 games with the Avalanche.
