Nikolai Khabibulin placed on IR

EDMONTON, Alberta -- The Edmonton Oilers have placed goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin on injured reserve and recalled Martin Gerber from the minors.
Khabibulin, out with a groin injury, is 4-10-1 this season with a 4.07 goals-against average and a .879 save percentage.
Gerber was brought up from Oklahoma City of the American Hockey League on Thursday. The 36-year-old Gerber has a 110-78-21 record in 226 career NHL games, with a 2.65 GAA and .910 save percentage.
Gerber and Devan Dubnyk will form Edmonton's goaltending tandem while Khabibulin is out.
