Thrashers claim Rob Schremp
The Atlanta Thrashers claimed forward Rob Schremp off NHL waivers from the New York Islanders on Monday.
The Ottawa Senators claimed goalie Curtis McElhinney from the Tampa Bay Lightning.
McElhinney didn't see any action with the Lightning, who acquired him in a trade with Anaheim last week.
In 21 games with the Ducks this season, he went 6-9-1 with a .890 save percentage and 3.43 goals-against average.
The Calgary Flames claimed defenseman Brett Carson from the Carolina Hurricanes.
Carson has split time this season between the Hurricanes and Charlotte of the AHL. In 72 career NHL games, Carson has two goals, 10 assists and 20 penalty minutes.
The defenseman is no stranger to his new city, having played for the Western Hockey League's Calgary Hitmen from 2002 to 2006. Carson was chosen by Carolina in the fourth round of the 2004 draft.
Clearing waivers Monday were Jason Jaffray (Anaheim); D.J. King (Washington); Nathan Lawson (Islanders); Pascal Leclaire (Ottawa); Ty Conklin (St. Louis); and Tim Stapleton (Thrashers).
