Peter Forsberg takes front office post
STOCKHOLM -- Former NHL MVP Peter Forsberg has been hired as the assistant general manager of his hometown Swedish club, Modo.
Modo said Wednesday that Forsberg will work as an adviser for the club in sports issues, helping with marketing and scouting for talent.
Forsberg won two Stanley Cups with the Colorado Avalanche and was the league MVP in 2003, but announced his retirement in February after failing to recover from a lingering foot injury.
Forsberg said in a statement Wednesday that the new role "feels perfect" and that "it will be fun to build the Modo of the future."
