ESPN.com Research Notes
The Stars are playing in their first conference finals since 2000, when they defeated the Colorado Avalanche but later lost to the Devils in the Stanley Cup finals.
Johan Franzen scored his 12th goal in 11 playoff games Thursday versus the Stars. That's the most goals over the first 11 games of the playoffs since Joe Sakic had 12 goals in Colorado's first 11 games in 1996.
The Philadelphia Flyers-Pittsburgh Penguins series is the fourth in-state conference finals matchup in the Expansion Era (since 1968); the last was the Islanders-Rangers matchup in 1981 (New York)
Sidney Crosby was held scoreless in the second round vs. the Rangers, but collected six assists.
