The Detroit Red Wings hit a small bump in the NHL road over the past week, dropping three straight games for the first time since mid-November.

It all just opened the door for another Western Conference team to take over the top spot in our Power Rankings.

Despite a close loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday (all of the contests between the two clubs have been quite spirited this season), the San Jose Sharks move to No. 1 after a 2-1-1 week and 7-1-2 stretch. The Sharks also boast the NHL's best road record (16-4-3).

Meanwhile, the Penguins and Ducks move back into the Top 10, while the Hurricanes and Rangers drop out.

You can weigh in and rank your 30 teams here.

Until next time, enjoy puckheads!

2007-2008 Power Rankings: Week 14
  RK (PV)   TEAM REC. COMMENT
1 (3)   Sharks 25-13-7 The Sharks aren't getting a ton of scoring, but it doesn't seem to matter. They are winning, which is something the Wings couldn't do a lot of in the last week at least. Only Detroit has allowed fewer goals on average and San Jose leads the league with a 16-4-3 road record.
2 (1)   Red Wings 33-10-4 We're not used to seeing the Red Wings lose, especially three in a row, it?s their longest skid since mid-November. Things won't get any easier either; Vancouver, San Jose, L.A., Anaheim and Phoenix are on the docket.
3 (4)   Devils 26-15-3 The Devils have won five of their last six games and 19 of their last 25 as they try to hold off the Pens for the lead in the Atlantic.
4 (2)   Senators 29-12-4 Dany Heatley's out, Jason Spezza isn't "100 percent" and the Senators have won just two games in regulation (albeit one was vs. Detroit) in their last eight contests.
5 (7)   Penguins 26-16-3 The Penguins have won nine of their last 10 games and are tied for the division lead with the Devils. And was Evgeni Malkin just a little motivated earlier this week after not being named to the All-Star team?
6 (9)   Wild 26-17-2 The Wild got back on track, winning three straight against Detroit, Chicago and red-hot Phoenix.
7 (15)   Ducks 25-17-6 It's our Wacky Mover of the Week! Maybe not so wacky when you have Scott Niedermayer back in your lineup. But along with its big D, Anaheim is also racking up the goals, outscoring its opponents 18-7 in the last four games.
8 (6)   Flames 22-17-8 Helllllllllllllllllllllo CuJo.
9 (13)   Canadiens 23-14-8 The Canadiens are still within striking distance (eight points) of the division-leading Sens in the Northeast. And, for now, they can take solace in Alexei Kovalev's offensive run (four goals and four assists in last six games).
10 (12)   Flyers 23-15-5 Winners of four of their last five games, the Flyers are also putting pressure on the Devils in the Atlantic. So, do they really need Peter Forsberg?
11 (5)   Canucks 25-17-4 One glaring stat explains a lot of the Canucks' woes this season -- they are 0-15-1 this season when trailing after two periods.
12 (8)   Stars 25-18-5 While the Stars are 2-6-1 over their last nine games, they are hoping to turn it around over the next week with games vs. division rivals San Jose and Anaheim on the docket. Through Tuesday, only three points separate the three clubs in the Pacific.
13 (16)   Islanders 22-18-5 The Islanders salvaged a recent road trip (2-1-2) before returning home, but the power play is still an issue (2-for-20 in their last six games).
14 (14)   Blues 22-15-6 The Blues dropped back-to-back games, but still have points in seven of their last eight contests.
15 (11)   Rangers 21-20-5 The Rangers have dropped six of their last seven, Jaromir Jagr is limping around the locker room and the team sits last in the competitive Atlantic Division. Does something have to give before Feb. 26?
16 (10)   Hurricanes 22-22-4 The Hurricanes are 3-6-1 over their last 10 games, but things should get better as more players are expected to return to the lineup over the next week.
17 (19)   Coyotes 24-20-1 The Coyotes, 7-2-0 over their last nine contests, have more points (49) than the Bruins (48), Rangers (47) and Maple Leafs (42). Just a tidbit for all you traditionalists out there.
18 (17)   Avalanche 25-18-3 The Avs faired well on a road trip through the Southeast Division (3-1-0), but how will they be against the West at home?
19 (22)   Blue Jackets 22-18-6 Nikolai Zherdev shoots, scores and blocks shots! The Jackets have won six straight at home and have quietly caught the Blues in the every-team-for-itself-after-the-Wings division.
20 (18)   Bruins 22-18-4 Can the B's get back on a winning track?
21 (23)   Oilers 21-22-4 The Oilers have won four of their last five contests against the likes of the Rangers, Islanders, Coyotes and Flames.
22 (21)   Sabres 19-18-6 Nine straight losses, but the last three have come in the shootout.
23 (20)   Blackhawks 20-21-4 We don't pick favorites here, but man, can't the run of bad luck with injuries just stop in Chicago?
24 (24)   Predators 22-19-4 The Predators have earned a point in seven of their past eight games, and are just four points out from a playoff spot.
25 (25)   Capitals 19-21-5 How will the team's offense fare with Michael Nylander undergoing season-ending surgery for a torn left rotator cuff?
26 (28)   Thrashers 23-22-2 Back-to-back wins against the Penguins and Red Wings earn the Thrashers a few points this week.
27 (26)   Panthers 20-22-4 The Panthers have just three wins in their last 11 games, only one of which was in regulation. Ouch.
28 (29)   Kings 18-27-2 Three straight wins pulls the Kings further out of our basement.
29 (30)   Lightning 17-24-5 The Bolts' only constant -- Vinny Lecavalier -- has been held pointless for three straight games. It's the first time that's happened in over two years.
30 (27)   Maple Leafs 17-21-8 Will someone just pull the plug already?!
