A short week because of the All-Star Game, so no teams made any drastic moves in this week's Power Rankings.

But we're guessing you'll still find something to say about them, so feel free to comment here.

2008-2009 Power Rankings: Week 14
  RK (PV)   TEAM REC. COMMENT
1 (1)   Sharks 34-6-5 San Jose's Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau and Dan Boyle combined for two goals and six assists for the Western Conference at the All-Star Game.
2 (2)   Red Wings 31-9-6 Detroit GM Ken Holland, who spearheaded the move for ultrasecrecy regarding player injuries, gets his comeuppance by having to do without Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom for one game after the All-Star break because of their "injuries."
3 (3)   Capitals 30-15-3 The Capitals earn a chance to close the gap a bit on the Eastern Conference-leading Bruins on Tuesday night in Boston. I wonder whether Ovie will wear the outback hat and shades.
4 (4)   Bruins 34-8-5 If Tim Thomas can cause jeering Montreal fans to suddenly cheer him during the All-Star Game, maybe he can work more wonders through the rest of the season and playoffs.
5 (8)   Devils 29-15-3 Nothing but good news for New Jersey, as it leads the Atlantic Division at the break, Martin Brodeur is skating and Brendan Shanahan scored in his season debut.
6 (6)   Flames 28-14-4 The Flames rank sixth in the NHL in goals per game (3.15), tied with the much-more-hyped Capitals.
7 (5)   Canadiens 27-13-6 Hey now, Alexei Kovalev, you're an All-Star MVP. Now get your game on in the regular season.
8 (9)   Flyers 25-12-9 Can Peter Forsberg help the Flyers? Philadelphia GM Paul Holmgren is calling to find out.
9 (10)   Rangers 28-16-4 The Rangers lead the league with 87.6 percent penalty-killing success.
10 (7)   Blackhawks 25-12-8 After losing two straight games, the Blackhawks embark on a brutal eight-game road trip starting Wednesday in Anaheim.
11 (14)   Coyotes 24-19-5 Coyotes captain Shane Doan, who won the shootout challenge during the All-Star Game skills competition by scoring on four of six attempts, missed in his only shootout attempt this season.
12 (11)   Sabres 24-18-5 Buffalo ranks 29th in takeaways (229) this season.
13 (12)   Penguins 23-21-4 The Penguins rank last in the league in average shots per game (27.2).
14 (13)   Ducks 23-21-5 Former Ducks GM Brian Burke is reportedly looking to bring Chris Pronger to the Maple Leafs if Anaheim slips out of the playoff race, according to the Ottawa Sun.
15 (16)   Oilers 24-19-3 Edmonton ranks last in the league in hits (718), more than 500 behind the league-leading Rangers (1,285).
16 (17)   Hurricanes 23-20-5 The Hurricanes (676) trail only the Kings (682) in missed shots so far this season.
17 (15)   Canucks 22-19-7 Canucks GM Mike Gillis says he won't fire Alain Vigneault or blow up the roster. "Do we give up on them, or do we allow them to figure it out? We're allowing them to figure it out. And we're confident that they will," Gillis told The Province.
18 (18)   Wild 23-20-3 No matter how you feel about the Wild, you should cheer for defenseman Kurtis Foster in his attempt to come back from a horrifying broken femur nine months ago.
19 (19)   Blue Jackets 22-20-5 Columbus needs to send a thank-you note to the NHL, and to the Red Wings, for forcing Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom to sit out Tuesday night's game.
20 (22)   Stars 20-18-7 Dallas will play Detroit on Thursday for the third time in three weeks, and the game will provide a good indication of whether the Stars can climb out of the big hole they dug for themselves.
21 (20)   Avalanche 23-23-1 Now is the time for Colorado to make a move with its next five games at home.
22 (21)   Panthers 21-17-8 In response to Dan Bouwmeester's comments that Miami isn't a hockey town and doesn't deserve an NHL team, Jay Bouwmeester told reporters, "Don't listen to anything my dad has to say." But the question is whether Jay will listen to what Dad says about his pending free agency.
23 (24)   Kings 19-20-7 Perennial NHL hits leader Dustin Brown looked a little out of place in the All-Star Game.
24 (26)   Lightning 16-21-10 The New York Post reports the Lightning are talking to teams about trading Steven Stamkos.
25 (23)   Predators 20-23-3 Instead of buying their own tickets, why don't the Predators just lower ticket prices?
26 (28)   Blues 19-23-4 Big wins over the Bruins and Blackhawks last week were promising for the Blues, but can they keep it up to make up the nine points that separate them from the final playoff spot in the West?
27 (27)   Senators 16-21-7 Putting goalie Martin Gerber on waivers eliminates one scapegoat for Ottawa's disappointing season, but at least 19 others remain.
28 (25)   Maple Leafs 17-22-8 Leafs forward Matt Stajan laments the quiet Air Canada Centre crowds. "We get it some nights but, obviously, we would like it more nights," Stajan tells the Toronto Star. "We have to do a better job of giving them some excitement, but we hope they can bring some excitement and energy to this building, as well."
29 (29)   Thrashers 17-26-5 Curse you, Antero Niittymaki. The Flyers goalie is 12-0 against the Thrashers. Atlanta will get one more chance at him this season Feb. 8 in Philadelphia.
30 (30)   Islanders 13-29-5 On a positive note, the Islanders lead the league in blocked shots (825).
