ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Thrashers try to match a team-record four-game winning streak and solve the Pittsburgh Penguins when they meet at Philips Arena.
The Thrashers have posted consecutive overtime victories after a 6-2 win over the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.
On Wednesday, Marc Savard scored his second goal of the game with 83 seconds left in overtime to give the Thrashers a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. Savard has 13 goals in 20 games after managing just 17 in 67 contests with Calgary and Atlanta last season.
The Thrashers had a four-game winning streak from November 16-23. In their first four seasons, they had a trio of three-game winning streaks.
However, Atlanta is just 1-16-0 all time against Pittsburgh, getting outscored, 68-34.
In the first meeting this season, Ramzi Abid had a goal and an assist and rookie Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 24 shots in Pittsburgh's 4-3 home win over Atlanta on December 1.
The 19-year-old Fleury, who was the top overall pick in the 2003 draft, is not longer with the Penguins as he was loaned to the Canadian national team for the World Junior Championships, which begin December 26. Fleury is expected to return to Pittsburgh at the conclusion of the tournament on January 5.
The Penguins have been outscored, 19-9, in losing four games since beating the Thrashers and are concluding a five-game trip.
On Tuesday, Milan Kraft scored twice for the Penguins in a 4-3 overtime defeat to the Vancouver Canucks. Fleury made 33 saves and fell to 4-10-2.
Pittsburgh recalled Jean-Sebastien Aubin from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton the American Hockey League on Thursday and will use him and Sebastien Caron in the nets during Fleury's absence.
