ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Colorado Avalanche look to
extend their road unbeaten streak to six games Friday when they
visit the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.
Colorado is 2-0-3-0 in its last five road games. It had an
eight-game undefeated streak overall come to an end Wednesday
with a 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild.
Joe Sakic scored both goals in the losing effort to raise his
season total to 11. Sakic is four goals behind team leader
Even though it lost, the Avalanche are an impressive 11-3-5-1 in
the last 20 games.
The Mighty Ducks endured their first home regulation loss in
nine games, 3-2, last Sunday to the Edmonton Oilers. They are
6-1-1-1 in their last nine home contests.
Overall, Anaheim has lost two in a row, but has earned points in
13 of its past 18 games.
Petr Sykora and Andy McDonald tallied Sunday for the Ducks.
Rookie Garrett Burnett notched his first NHL point with an
assist on McDonald's goal, while Sergei Fedorov added his
team-leading 13th assist. Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who picked up
an assist, turned aside 26 shots.
This meeting will be the second of four between the teams. The
Avalanche edged the Mighty Ducks, 2-1, in overtime on November
18. Teemu Selanne scored against his former team with 1:49 left
Colorado is 21-9-7-2 all-time against Anaheim.
