VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks try to widen their lead over the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night as the Northwest Division rivals meet for the second time this week.

Colorado snapped a six-game road winless streak by scoring twice in the first period of Wednesday's 2-1 win at Calgary. Peter Worrell and Steve Moore notched goals in the Avalanche's first road victory since November 28.

Vancouver was 7-3-3 in December and concluded the month with Wednesday's 4-3 overtime victory at Chicago. Todd Bertuzzi tallied with 28 second to play in the extra session.

During the game, the Canucks announced the signing of coach Marc Crawford to a three-year contract extension.

Vancouver leads the season series, 1-0-1. On Monday, the Canucks pulled out a 3-2 victory at the Pepsi Center as Mike Keane was credited with the go-ahead goal with 4:35 remaining.
