DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators hope to keep their
offensive production rolling on Wednesday when they open a
four-game road trip against the Dallas Stars.
The Senators have scored 18 goals in winning their last three
contests, including a 9-1 pasting of the New York Rangers on
Satursday.
Bryan Smolinski scored twice in the first period and defenseman
Zdeno Chara also had two goals for the Senators, who set a
season high for goals in a game.
Daniel Alfredsson contributed one goal and two assists and Wade
Redden chipped in three assists for Ottawa, which improved to
14-2-4 since December 18. Alfredsson has four goals and seven
assists during an eight-game points streak.
The Stars are 4-1-1 in their last six contests, including 2-0-1
in their last three.
On Monday, Dallas opened a three-game homestand with a 2-2 tie
against Detroit as defenseman Teppo Numminen evened the contest
by scoring off a faceoff with 6:02 remaining.
Stars right wing David Oliver scored for the third time in four
games.
The teams are meeting for the only time this season.
