PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins try to push their home unbeaten streak to six games on Sunday afternoon when they host the New York Rangers.
Pittsburgh is 11-22-5 at home but 4-0-1 here since a 9-4 loss to Nashville on March 4. The Penguins also are 8-3-2 in their last 13 games following an 18-game losing streak.
Aleksey Morozov, who survived the trading deadline, has keyed this recent run. He scored a power-play goal 77 seconds into overtime to give Pittsburgh a 4-3 home win over Carolina on Friday and has six goals and nine assists in his last 11 contests.
After scoring his 14th goal, Morozov skated to the glass and displayed the Penguin on his jersey to the fans at Mellon Arena.
"I tried to show the fans that Pittsburgh is a good team," Morozov said Friday. "I was so happy when we scored and got two points. I hope the fans will respond. I'm not part of the promotional staff, but I hope we have a sellout Sunday against the Rangers."
Jon Sim, rookie Ryan Malone and defenseman Dick Tarnstrom had the other goals for the Penguins.
New York was officially eliminated from the playoff race on Saturday, when its losing streak reached five games with a 3-0 defeat at Philadelphia.
New York was shut out for the fifth time this season and was 0-for-5 on the power play.
Sunday will mark Jaromir Jagr's first visit to Pittsburgh since joining the Rangers.
New York won the first four meetings by a combined score of 14-4. But Malone had a goal and two assists to lead the Penguins to a 7-4 victory two weeks ago in New York.
