ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- Mike Sillinger and the ST. Louis Blues try to even their Western Conference quarterfinal series with the San Jose Sharks when they meet Tuesday night at the Savvis Center.

Sillinger, acquired March 4 from the Phoenix Coyotes, had scored just five career playoff goals and none since 2000 when he was with the Florida Panthers. But the veteran center, who has played with 10 teams, recorded a hat trick to lead the Blues to a 4-1 win on Monday.

It was the first hat trick for Sillinger, who helped the Blues avoid losing the first three games of a series for the first time since the 1994 Western Conference quarterfinals.

"My little boys said they wanted me to score a hat trick, and my wife said if he ever gets a hat trick we will fill the house with balloons," Sillinger said Monday. "I guess we'll be filling the house with balloons."

The win came after the St. Louis had mustered just an unassisted goal by Doug Weight in losing the first two games.

The Sharks will look to regroup quickly and improve play in their own zone. They allowed Sillinger to score twice on breakaways and were outshot, 25-8, through 40 minutes.
