CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Seventeen months after meeting in the Western Conference Finals, the San Jose Sharks and Calgary Flames are headed in opposite directions.

The Flames look for their 10th win in 11 games, while the Sharks try to snap a six-game losing streak Wednesday when the teams square off at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

Calgary, which defeated San Jose in six games to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2004, has continued its winning ways this season.

The Flames' latest victory came Monday in a 3-2 shootout triumph over Colorado. Byron Ritchie and Craig MacDonald scored first-period goals and Tony Amonte tallied in the shootout for Calgary, which got 33 saves from backup goaltender Philippe Sauve.

Meanwhile, San Jose dropped its sixth straight contest on Monday - a 2-1 shootout loss to Edmonton. The Sharks, who have a total of 11 goals in their last seven games, have had three of their last four defeats come in shootouts.

The Sharks took the only meeting with the Flames this season, posting a 3-2 shootout triumph on October 29.
