COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- After dropping three straight
games against the Western Conference elite, the New Jersey
Devils will attempt to find success against a team near the
bottom of the conference.
The Devils will look to avoid matching their longest losing
streak of the season Sunday when they visit the Columbus Blue
Jackets, who still are searching for offense.
New Jersey lost back-to-back games against first-place teams
Detroit and Calgary before dropping a 4-3 shootout to Colorado
on Friday. Jay Pandolfo, Brian Gionta and Scott Gomez scored in
regulation for the Devils, who failed on all seven shootout
The Devils, who only have two goals in their last 40 power-play
opportunities, last dropped four straight games November 1-8.
Columbus, which is last in the league with 54 goals, is coming
off a 5-2 setback to Atlanta on Friday. Rookie Jaroslav
Balastik and Nikolai Zherdev scored for the Blue Jackets, who
lost for the second time in three games.
Columbus is 2-2 all-time at home against New Jersey, including a
4-3 loss on January 27, 2004 in the only meeting between the
teams in the 2003-04 season.
