ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - Joe Thornton's arrival has made all the difference for the San Jose Sharks.

Thornton looks to lead the Sharks to their seventh straight win Sunday when they visit the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the opener of a home-and-home series.

San Jose had dropped 10 straight games before acquiring Thornton in a four-player deal with Boston on November 30. But since the deal, Thornton has sparked the Sharks to six straight wins and has recorded at least two points in each contest.

On Friday, San Jose posted a 4-1 triumph over Washington behind a goal and an assist from Thornton, who has three goals and 11 assists since the trade.

Jonathan Cheechoo, Alyn McCauley and rookie Milan Michalek also tallied for the Sharks, who received 25 saves from Evgeni Nabokov to move within one victory of their first seven-game winning streak since January 30-February 28, 2002.

Anaheim is coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to Los Angeles on Friday. Joffrey Lupul collected a goal and an assist and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made several amazing stops en route to 34 saves, but the Ducks still fell to 0-6 in overtime and shootouts.

San Jose posted a 1-0 overtime victory over Anaheim in the teams' first meeting on November 4 behind Marcel Goc's tally 51 seconds into overtime.
