SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- After playing once at home last week, the Tampa Bay Lightning open their second four-game road trip of the month Monday when they visit the San Jose Sharks.

Tampa Bay went 2-2 on its last journey before coming back to post a 4-2 victory over Columbus last Friday. It was the Lightning's fourth win in 12 outings. Reigning Hart Trophy winner Martin St. Louis had a goal and an assist and Ruslan Fedotenko scored his first tally in nine games to give coach John Tortorella a franchise-record 143rd victory.

If the season ended Monday, the defending Stanley Cup champions would not qualify for the playoffs. The Lightning are two points behind New Jersey for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

San Jose came up short in its bid for a second six-game winning streak this season, falling to Montreal, 6-2, on Saturday.

Joe Thornton, who has led the Sharks to 12 wins in 18 games since he was acquired from Boston on November 30, scored his 15th goal and is the league's fourth-leading scorer with 61 points.

The teams skated to a 2-2 tie in their most recent encounter on October 30, 2003. Tampa Bay has a 6-3-1 mark at San Jose.
