WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The St. Louis Blues try to end one streak and keep alive another when they visit the Washington Capitals on Thursday in a matchup of last-place teams.

The Blues, who have won six straight meetings with the Capitals and are unbeaten in the last nine matchups, are struggling through another miserable slide. They have lost seven in a row while being outscored, 27-10, solidifying their hold on last place in the Central Division.

After an 0-5-0 road trip, St. Louis was unable to take advantage of the comforts of home by dropping a 5-3 decision against New Jersey on Tuesday.

Defenseman Dennis Wideman, Doug Weight and Mike Sillinger each scored to help the Blues erase a 3-0 deficit, but the Devils struck for two late tallies.

With the loss, St. Louis fell to 1-7-1 against Eastern Conference opponents, a mark it will attempt to improve upon against Washington, which is vying for its first three-game winning streak this season.

The Capitals got two goals and an assist from rookie Alexander Ovechkin in Monday's 6-1 win over Phoenix, the club's largest margin of victory this season. Matt Bradley and Ben Clymer both added a goal and an assist as Washington finished a 2-1-0 road trip.

The Capitals are 4-4-1 against Western Conference opponents this season.
