GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Following a brief respite from the rigors of the road, the Florida Panthers commence another trek when they visit the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday.

The Panthers opened 2006 with a 2-2-1 road trip before returning home to split a pair of contests, capped by Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to Columbus.

Nathan Horton's 18th goal of the season with 47 seconds remaining in regulation allowed Florida to extend the contest into overtime, when it allowed a power-play tally with just 12 seconds left.

Joe Nieuwendyk had a goal and an assist for the Panthers, who suffered just their second loss in their last eight home games despite a 52-23 advantage in shots.

The Coyotes will try to avoid falling below .500 following a miserable start to their three-game road trip on Monday. After winning the final two games of a three-game road trip, Phoenix suffered a 6-1 loss to Washington.

Shane Doan provided the lone tally for the Coyotes, who lost for the fifth time in seven games.
