DETROIT (Ticker) -- Consecutive losses to the Nashville Predators have the Detroit Red Wings on the verge of falling out of first place in the Central Division.

The Red Wings look to avoid their first three-game losing streak since November 16-19 when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

With 32 wins to match Dallas for most victories in the Western Conference, Detroit and Nashville have 68 points apiece in the division race. The Red Wings will fall out of first place with a loss and a win by the Predators at Minnesota on Thursday.

After losing to Nashville in Monday's rescheduled game, Detroit got a goal from Mathieu Schneider in the opening period of Tuesday's 2-1 overtime defeat to the Predators.

Two points behind Calgary for the top spot in the Northwest Division, the Canucks have won seven of 10. However, they have dropped the first two contests of a seven-game road trip against two of the league's weaker teams.

Vancouver opened the trip with a shutout loss Monday at St. Louis before Tuesday's 6-5 defeat to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Canucks may be without defenseman Ed Jovanovski, who has been bothered by a groin injury and returned to Vancouver on Wednesday for further evaluation. He has played in just two of the team's last 13 games.

Todd Bertuzzi had a hat trick for Vancouver in a 4-1 victory over Detroit on November 13. The Canucks have won four of the last five encounters against the Red Wings.
