DENVER (Ticker) -- The Edmonton Oilers can move into a three-way tie atop the Northwest Division on Tuesday when they visit the Colorado Avalanche, who are not too far behind.

The Oilers are two points behind Calgary and Vancouver for the division lead, although the Flames have a game in hand. The Avalanche lag just five points behind the division leaders.

Edmonton has won five of its last six games, with the only loss coming in a shootout against Columbus on Thursday. The Oilers have won their last two, including Monday's 6-5 shootout triumph over Anaheim.

Ryan Smyth scored twice and Fernando Pisano netted the game-winner in the shootout. Goaltender Mike Morrison stopped all three shooters to improve to 5-0 in shootouts for Edmonton.

Colorado has lost its last two games, including Saturday's 3-0 contest against Detroit. The Avalanche's power play has been a major factor in their defeats, going a combined 0-for-15 with the man advantage.

Milan Hejduk is likely to return to the lineup for Colorado after the star right wing had to miss Saturday's contest because of a neck injury.

The Avalanche have won three of the five contests against the Oilers this season.
