EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) - A pair of teams in the tightly packed Northwest Division meet Friday when the Edmonton Oilers host the Minnesota Wild.

The Oilers sit in fourth place in the division, but they are just four points behind first-place Calgary. The Wild are in last place, 11 behind the Flames.

Edmonton won five of its previous six games before dropping a 5-2 road contest against another division rival, Colorado. Rookie Mike Morrison surrendered a season-high five goals as he lost in regulation for the first time in regulation since January 23.

Minnesota also was a victim to Colorado in its most recent contest, suffering a 2-1 setback at home Thursday. Todd White tied the game midway through the third period with his 18th goal of the season.

Goaltender Manny Fernandez made 27 saves but could not keep out a shot from Avalanche captain Joe Sakic with just over five minutes left as the Wild saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.

The road team has won all three meetings between Edmonton and Minnesota this season, with the Wild taking a pair here on December 26 and 28.
