ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- The St. Louis Blues entered the season with the league's longest active playoff streak. The Detroit Red Wings are on the verge of claiming that distinction.

The Red Wings can move closer to clinching a playoff spot Monday when they skate with the Blues, who have not enjoyed much success of late, or in the season series.

Detroit has a league-best 103 points with 14 games remaining in its search for its fifth Presidents' Trophy since 1995. The Red Wings are, however, coming off a disappointing homestand in which they lost two of three games.

The team's latest loss was a 5-4 shootout setback against Columbus on Saturday. Detroit held a 3-0 lead in the third period before Chris Osgood surrendered three straight tallies.

Pavel Datsyuk tied it at 4-4 with 1:50 remaining in regulation, but all three Red Wings shooters failed to tally against rookie netminder Pascal Leclaire in the shootout.

Once Detroit clinches a playoff spot, it will mark the team's 15th straight postseason appearance. St. Louis has made the playoffs each of the previous 25 campaigns, but it was eliminated from contention last week.

The Blues have dropped six straight games following their 3-2 overtime loss to Colorado on Saturday. St. Louis also has struggled against Detroit this season, losing five of the six matchups.
